About Educorps

Educorps was founded to provide guidance and advice to chief school officers and their staff. A not-for-profit, tax-exempt, consulting service chartered by the state Board of Regents, Educorps provides a unique support system for superintendents in New York State. Established in 1992 with the support of the Commissioner of Education and major statewide administrator associations, Educorps has offered assistance to superintendents in rural, suburban and city school districts, providing school leaders with professional and confidential assistance in making better-informed decisions regarding education issues in their districts.

What makes this consulting service distinctive is that it is offered by volunteer, retired public administrators and its services are available to all public schools statewide. Consultants are pulled from the finest retired educational administrators in New York.  Their knowledge is vast and they provide a wealth of rich educational resources not found with many private, and often, expensive, consulting firms. 

In 2007, Educorps entered into a formal partnership with The Council and expanded the levels of service they offer to superintendents. These new services reflect the needs of school superintendents in a time of increasing demands at the local, state and national levels.
